Tiny Poems

Tired

Cold cereal blames
Me for everything
I forgot to do
Yesterday

The

As a breath
This tiny sound
Over the tip of my tongue
Points to
A world of things
And you

Espanol

Not sombreros
Not tamales
Not the lies
They told you
Just a strong
Light, an open
Hand

Of

Never mind by or from
Ignore to and beside
This of will
Bind me to your heart
You are a friend
of mine

A

Open your mouth
And what comes out?
A lion, an army
Of politicians?
No, just one
Thing.

Word

Leaping into
A shining world
Will carry
Me
Closer
To you

Love

There's nothing
To say. A wall
Has been
Finished.
Where are
You?

Wasn't

Standing sitting breathing
laughing crying crusading flying
swilling thinking forgetting applying
destroying correcting gurgling
pulsating aching resting reading
jumping losing right now

Propaganda

He wanted me
To pretend I was
An oyster
But I was
Actually
A refrigerator

Calendar

Where will you be
when I am a thousand
lies younger and birds
have taken over
your mirror?

Guitar

A woman sits
beside a broken wall
and lizards play
dark games
at her feet

Brain

oh yes well
maybe today it will
all go away
and earth will
abandon me
utterly
to silence

Broom

those fingers have
touched a thirst
in wood on stone
those long legs
have danced
too long

Monkey

Before the hat
hits the ground
you've got a finger
up someone's nose
and a leg
in the air
