Sisters
Separated by a premature death.
Not even two months spent together,
Not even enough time to cultivate what could have been.
But I loved you, and you loved me,
That's how sisters are.
I knew things about you, and you about me,
That's how we are.
We were new explorers embarking on this journey
called Life, Our namesakes doing better jobs than I.
They were selfless in protecting others and their crews.
They stuck together;
I was selfish.
I knew I should have never climbed the tree,
Eight of my nine lives already spent.
But the sight of that delicious bird
Made my mouth water and
Tail sway.
Temptation was too great
It had been raining cats and dogs all week,
And my climbing skills weren't refined,
And I slipped, And I landed toes up.
I love you, General, as only a sister can
love.
It was never my fur-brained intention
To abandon you in an unexplored land,
But curiosity killed this cat!
