Independence was instilled from my birth
And I fought the war and
did my job with courage
So when I came home
why didn't they leave me alone
Or ever listen to what I said.
Mary tamed the tameable part in me
but the rest would never surrender
and it seemed as if she was born
to make me surrender
They would get flustered when I yelled
But they should obey me
I was a father
husband
soldier
and a man
I had the power and control so
let them miss my morning coffee and cigarettes
