Joe Schmoe

People always said, "Good old Joe Schmoe,
Lived in Springfield, USA;
Married Jane Doe, and they
(and their children) never had anything to say."

I've always wondered, "What is there
To do with life? How will people remember me?"
(That was before I realized, no one will remember me -
I am, after all, Joe Schmoe.)

If you walk to my grave, you'll see nothing special -
No meaningful poem, or picture, or expression.
The only thing at my burial site
Is me.

I sometimes wonder, "What do other people
Think of me? Am I someone special?"
That's when I answer my own question -
I'm not very special, I'm just Joe Schmoe.

But there is one thing I always forget -
There is someone who thinks I'm a little special.
