Vincent Van Gogh
Look at me, Still Life,
a Lying Cow
My Skull to me was a waste,
only selling one product of it.
My Two Hands worked
like Two Lovers against the bare canvas.
Nobody saw it but me.
What I saw as a Vase with Honesty,
they saw a Vase with Dead Leaves.
What I saw as The Starry Night,
they saw as a Landscape Under a Stormy Sky
Maybe the Path in the Woods led me the wrong way-
Instead of the Night Cafe,
I should have gone to the Pasture in Bloom.
Then maybe I would have seen
Irises, The Sunflowers, and The Willow,
not a Half Figure of an Angel and The Reaper.
Hoping to be a Village at Sunset,
I died a Cottage at Nightfall
This is my Portrait of the Artist
