We'll begin the new journal year with a poem for each day for awhile, composed on the morning of the day. Yes, I know Robert Bly did this, but I will do it, too, differently.

If you decide to read these, you are not allowed to ask me what they are about or what they really mean. I will become very rude if you ask me these things. But you may comment on them in other ways such as, "That poem would look very good in your old blue jeans" or "I would never go out to dinner with that poem, but I might take it to lunch" or "You should plant that poem beside the coreopsis."

Nothing is poetical if plain daylight is not poetical; and no monster should amaze us if the normal man does not amaze.
