Merry Christmas!! ... and peace to us all ...

Leave your windows and go out, people of the world,
go into the streets, go into the fields, go into the woods
and along the streams. Go together, go alone.
Say no to the Lords of War which is Money
which is Fire. Say no by saying yes
to the air, to the earth, to the trees,
yes to the grasses, to the rivers, to the birds
and the animals and every living thing, yes
to the small houses, yes to the children. Yes.

listening to pat talk to jay on the phone ... everybody's talking about john's new car ... and happy for his new-found youth ... bond. james bond ... korie's almost done with the home-made caramels ... mom's got the dog on her lap ... acres of geese out on the lake ... tv on mute ... just as it is ... now it's my turn to talk to jay ... but luke just called ... so it's not my turn to talk because mom's talking to jay ... who's just the most popular person right now ... and luke who is korie's friend called back ... and pat's eating something so crunchy i can hear it all the way across the room ... and still ... i don't get to talk to jay yet ... a pair of bad guys are up on the rocks waiting to pick off john wayne and his runaway laydfriend ... they should just relax and let the accident occur ... wild horses

accomplished a few necessary physical and mechanical and spiritual jobs this morning ... got a start on the next phase of an academic job this afternoon ... now dom is off to a warmer climate ... and i'm waiting for pat to appear at o'hare ... discovering that the rump-fed mammets of united airlines have apparently updated their site in such a way that prevents me and my humble ie5.1 for mac browser from reaching any info about flight arrivals ... they also tell me i must submit a flight number lower than 8000 ... but my bro's is 8004 ... gots to love it ... pat, are you riding some top-secret mystical flight?

mis-taking ... last week i had moments too blank to say anything ... to blank to begin let alone finish any phrases ... so i lifted a couple odd ones from emily dickinson ... whom we were reading ... one of them being: one fainting robin because it's so funny ... and true of a certain spiritual condition ... and just now i notice that jack kimball picked it up last friday ... just to quote ... over at his pantaloons: tykes on poetry ... as if i wrote it but i didn't ... i always put quoted material in italics (even when it's an imaginary quote but always when it's an actual) ... and i assume some phrases are just almost famous enough to be understood as lifted from another source ... but maybe they aren't ... this has happened before when another innocent blogger thought i'd written this big unattributed italicized chunk i'd lifted from whitman ... all of this just to say that i wish most of my plagiarisms were as simple as these ... but they are almost equally all unintentional ... i mean i sometimes feel that i am being someone other than the one i know myself to be ... and i must be appropriating that other from somewhere ... mimicky ... all of me ... you too sometimes?

This then is what it means to seek God perfectly: to withdraw from illusion and pleasure, from worldly anxieties and desires, from the works that God does not want, from a glory that is only human display; to keep my mind free from confusion in order that my liberty may be always at the disposal of His will; to entertain silence in my heart and listen for the voice of God; to cultivate an intellectual freedom from the images of created things in order to receive the secret contact of God in obscure love; to love all men as myself...
