walked out this afternoon ... down the bike trail to butterfield and back ... not too cold ... but the wind was kind of harsh on the way down ... better on the return ... passed a man with a little black dog and wondered if there were any coyotes around ... none to be seen

cat was happy to stay home in her brand new bag ...

seeing that this is the first weekend of the new quarter, i'm not buried under a heap of paper & i'm reading a little for pleasure (what's that) ... finally getting around to greg kot's very readable Wilco: Learning How to Die ... just up to where Uncle Tupelo breaks up ... lots of verities about how hard it is to keep any band together ... good book that would be more useful with an index & discography

yesterday and today i had to trade my afternoon sophomores for the company of colleagues as we continue to hammer out the various UbD curriculum plans for the department ... i missed the sophs ... and it's pretty funny/scarey being trapped for three hours in a room full of english teachers ...

and missed posting here yesterday because the semester's end has taken a toll ... i'm not sick but i am tired ... need a vacation ... but the weekend will do ... at least i do not yet have a mountain of paper to process
