day ... we walked at seven so we had sun ... so we walked the
path i haven't walked for maybe six months ... it was as i remembered
it ... but i forgot to look for the deer leg in the tree ... how
could i ...
a good part of
the day was spent punching numbers into LibraryThing ... which
would allow me to add books but would not allow me to see any
lists of the books i'd added ... so i'm over a thousand now ...
that's right ... i now know that i have more than a thousand books
... and i've only done those at school and those in this room
... the bedroom books fill four sizable bookcases ..
in between these sessions i'm finishing kot's book
on wilco ... it's really good but hovers just a bit away from
a deeper consideration of the band's or tweedy's sense of the
music ... also reading on in jacob's room and huck finn for class
on wednesday ... in-service on racism for tuesday

Magazine :: Review :: Wilco - Kicking Television: Live In Chicago
speaking of which ... an unscientific
poll of the few seniors who came to class today (it's the senior
"goal holiday") reveals that Wilco has absolutely no
place in contemporary youth consciousness ... they never heard
of them ... it came up as i was wondering if the Empire (theatre)
in Jacob's Room
... where jacob, fanny and nick converge
... is the same Shepherd's Bush Empire where tweedy & company
had a wild concert back in 97
the Kingdom Comes - Christianity Today Magazine
...So Christians are not called to make holy apparel,
speak an odd dialect of spiritual jargon, or transform their workplace,
neighborhood, or nation into the kingdom of Christ. Rather, they
are called to belong to a holy commonwealth that is distinct from
the regimes of this age (Phil. 3:20?21) and to contribute as citizens
and neighbors in temporal affairs.
the thought that since anyone can now browse my books ... perhaps
anyone might see a book s/he would like ... and i might then give
lend or sell such a book to anyone ... might be a good way to
weed out the unwanted ... i could create a "want it?"
tag ... for the ones i'd most easily part with ...
i'd known about LibraryThing
for a while ... then i forgot ... then it was mentioned on one
of the blogs i read ... so i returned and signed up ... and right
now i've got 583 books listed ... it's a beta program and suffers
from periodic slowness and the occasional crash ... but it has
a very bright future i think ... a wonderful toy and tool for
anyone with many books ... and i've added that "random books"
thing down below just to see what it does ...
